Small towns across Japan receive a boost of excitement as residents race through the streets riding office chairs!
The “Office Chair Street Race”, known as the “ISU-1 Grand Prix” in Japanese, has 3-person teams rolling office chairs along a 180m course for 2-hours. Winning teams will travel some 22km during that time. It’s a test of endurance for the racers as well as the chairs.
Originally held to promote local business in rural areas, the number of teams has increased as the event grows in popularity and spreads to areas all over Japan.
